Kapilas



Fountain near Temple

Kapilas is the “Kailas” of Orissa and is an excellent place for spending 2-3 days with nature. According to Hindu Mythology “Kailas” is the abode of Lord Shiva. The famous temple of Chandrasekhar ‘Lord Shiva’ situated in Kapilas at the height of about 1975 ft.
The hill has several caves which are regularly visited by pilgrims. About 1575 stairs are there to reach at the temple. There is a motor able route also. The beauty of the fountain beside the road surely gives you a heavenly pleasure. A zoo is situated at the bottom of the hill. You can also spend some time with boating inside the lake at zoo. The Science Park is other attractions of the place. The beauty of the forest at Kapilas looks marvelous at the moonlit night. You can see the village “Deogaon” which is situated at stone-throw distance. Come to enjoy this heavenly place. Kapilas is waiting for you with its heavenly beauty.

How to Reach: 

Avail any train from Howrah South-Eastern Division which is going to Puri or Chennai. Get down at Cuttack. Distance is around 412 kms.

Apart from that you will get many trains from Howrah. From Badambari bus-stand at Cuttack, buses are leaving frequently for "Dhenkanal",which is about 21 kms away. Kapilas is 17 kms far from Dhenkanal. You will get bus,taxi to reach Kapilas.

Barkul


“Chilka Lake” at Orissa is a wonderful place of bio-diversity. This lake has been spreaded with around 1100 square kilometer area. You will find three different places for visit to Chilka Lake-
1.     Satpara
2.     Rombha
3.     Barkul.
Barkul is an excellent place to spend some days with small green hills and the Lake Chilka. You can roam on the lake with motor-boat. Visit the Kalijai, Kalijugeshwar, Honeymoon, Breakfast and many smaller islands. Various kinds of bird you will find in those islands in the winter.
Many authors have written about the morning of the Chilka. Truly, it is a sensational experience to visit Chilka at morning. You also found number of birds in the morning and evening.
Don’t forget to bargain before rent a motor-boat. The best time to visit here is November to March.

You can avail train from Howrah South Eastern Division. Get down at the Station Balugaon.

Bakkhali-Frezergaung-Henry Island


Beauty of Bay-of-Bengal will touch you once again at Bakkhali. Sea is very calm and quiet here. Bakkhali is only 132 kms away from Kolkata. Come and enjoy the Sunrise and Sunset among the peaceful nature. Come at Bakkhali to spend 1-2 days for refreshing your mind and get rid for some time from your busy daily life.

Frezergaung is only 2 kms away from Bakkhali. Don’t forget to visit at Frezergaung when you come at Bakkhali. The wave of sea, silver sand, tamarisk tree and the red crabs at the beach will surely give you so much pleasure. If you want you may visit at Crocodile Project and Deer Park.
You can also visit at ‘Jammudwip’ of Sunderban from here. It will take around 3 hours from here. A mind blowing beauty spot is Jammudwip. After spending one day at Bakkhali and one day at Frezergaung you can come at Henry-Island. A different place to spend 1-2 days. Here you will get a watch-tower. No, not for tiger, this watch-tower is for see the different types of birds. Normally the beach of Henry-Island is whitish. Here you will find the large number of Red crabs.


How to Reach:-


You can avail bus from Esplanade. The departure time is 7:05 at morning. Apart from that you can avail Namkhana local from Sealdah South Section. Get down at Namkhana. From Station you will get van-rickshaw to reach Hatania-Doania River. Cross the river by boat. Then avail bus or tracker
to reach Bakkhali.

Historical Jewel of Bengal "Murshidabad"


Murshidabad is in the bank of River Bhagirathi. It is famous as a tourist spot for the winter season. You can reach here by road or by train. It is also a picnic spot. But if you want to know the historical jewels of Murshidabad, you have to stay here for 2-3 days. Murshidabad was the last capital of Bengal-Bihar-Odisha. At the bank of River you can see the famous “Hazar-duari”, made by ‘Nabab Humayunzaa’. The construction of “Hazar-duari” was finished in the year 1838. 18 lack rupees were spending to finish it. Now it is the Museum of A.S.I. this museum is open for public from 10 AM to 5 PM except Friday. You will see a beautiful garden of flower at the outside of the palace. You can also visit Imam Bara, Haldi Masjid, Ghori Ghar, Chak Masjid, Minar, Bachchawali Toap, Madina Masjid, and Wasef Manjil Palace. You can visit these places by walking. But to traveling for long distance you can avail Auto or Tanga. At first visit at Katra Masjid. Structure of the Masjid is mind blowing. Founder of this Historical Monument is ‘Nabab Murshid Kuli Khan’. Here you will find his grave. At Adinath Jain Temple you will find the art of marble. At Kathgola Bagan you will see the palace made by Dugar Prince. Apart from that you can also visit the grave of “Nabab Shiraj” and “Alibardi” at Khoshbag at the opposite end of the River.

You can avail any train from Sealdah which is going to Lalgola. Distance is 193 kms.

Digha


Tamarisk  Tree
Digha is a very common name for the Bengali People. In other words, we can say that Digha is the most popular week-end tourist spot in Bengal.
In the way to hotel from Digha Flag Station you will definitely enjoy the yellow sand and tamarisk tree.
People are enjoying the Sea-Bath
Before taking the sea-bath just walk through the beach from  Old Digha to New Digha or vice-verse. The beauty of the wave of  Bay-of-Bengal surely you will keep in your mind for a long time. At the evening you can enjoy the sea also, seated on the bolder with various kind of snacks and ice-creams and delicious cashew nuts.
You can visit ‘Amarabati Park’, near New Digha. Here you can enjoy the boating at the artificial lake of ‘Amarabati park’. From here you may visit the ‘Digha Snake Garden’. Snake expert Dipak Mitra founded this garden.
Sunrise at Beach

The other places to visit are ‘Digha Science Center’ and ‘Marine Aquarium’. This is the largest aquarium in Asia. You can also visit at ‘Udaypur beach’, ‘Talsari Beach’, ‘Chandaneswar Temple’(Lord Shiva temple), ‘Mandarmani Beach’  and  Shankarpur. You can see all this places by hiring a car.

How to Reach:

By Bus: Now so many buses are  available to go at Digha. Bus services are available from Howrah and Esplaned with a time gap of 20-30 minutes. Apart from that you can avail buses from Garia, Thakurpukur, Salt Lake (Karunamoyee), Bonga, Laketown, Dumdum, Durgapur, Namkhana, Barackpore, Dunlop, Belgharia and Tarakeshwar. You can also avail A.C buses from Garia, Esplaned and Salt Lake.

By Train: Train Journey is more comfortable according to my opinion. It is also less time consuming.

    • To reach here by train:  You can avail any local train from Howrah to Burdwan which runs through main line. You have to get down at the station Rasulpur. From station it will take around 5-10 minutes by rickshaw.
